Devoted to nurturing and promoting the talent of scriptwriters from
around the world while encouraging their professional development.
Our Vision:
Our writing competition was founded with the cornerstone belief that
writing is one of our fundamental art forms and writers along with
their work should be looked upon in that way and be evaluated not
upon the length of
their project, but on the quality of the words and story contained
within the pages however many pages there may be.
To this end, the Writers Block Writing Competition bases our judging
on how well the story is written as well as the entertainment value
to the reader.
It is in this way and through this vision that an entrant of a Micro
Fiction has an equal opportunity to place or even win our
competition as an entrant who may have submitted either a Novel or
Script of any kind or of any genre.
We feel that considering writing in this way is not only the most
fair, but also is the best way to show our respect for writing as an
art, no matter what the form, content or length.
The written word when combined with the visual power of media has
the power to move us to tears, laughter, fear, exaltation, and
countless other emotions all within the span of a few moments. The
right words can literally change the world.

About Us:
Writers Block International Writing Competition is owned and
operated by the Great Lakes Film Association, a 501c(3) non-profit
organization that relies on contributions, sponsors, and the hard
work of its volunteers.
 The
main focus of Writers Block International Writing Competition is to
possibly give new writers the break they deserve while showcasing
the talents of veteran writers.
This year's competition has expanded to include one of the most
popular forms of writing, manuscripts. So..., whether you're writing
for stage, film, television, or fancy yourself the next Stephen
King, we can help you make the best first impression with agents,
producers and literary agencies.
Our goal to assist you in creating an opportunity to present your
best material to film production companies and and literary
agencies. We feel that we may be able to direct the new and
undiscovered writers to paths of success and industry recognition
while taking part in the further advancement of the veteran writer’s
career.
Our competition will consider your best work, regardless of
budgeting. We favor work that is character-driven and is based on an
entertaining story, and shows attention to detail.
Each year we are contacted by many agents and production companies
and have helped launch the careers of many budding writers while
giving new exposure to veteran writers.
Our organization was founded in 2002 and has gained a reputation
that has earned respect around the world.
Our storytellers come from all walks of life and from all parts of
the world. Everybody has a story to tell, we want to read yours.
